Garden Shopping

Today I went with my neighbour, Eb, to a really impressive garden centre near Kitchener. It is called Colour Paradise. Here's Eb with a cartload of plants that we bought. Silverbirch Lane will be much more beautiful now. Eb's husband, Bob, designed the greenhouses, and his son created a charming sort of "patio" where the nursery stock is displayed.

A New Computer System at the Library

Today was "Go Live" day at the our library. The new computer system for catalogue access and circulation was up and running. Here Leslie and Margaret are trying to figure out how it works, while in the background Jane is serving a patron.

Weekend in Ottawa

This was the middle of the three weekends of the Ottawa Tulip Festival, and the flowers were at their best, even though the weather did not cooperate. Don and I parked at Dow's Lake and walked through Commissioners Park (?) amongst a very international crowd of people admiring the tulips. I liked a dark pink variety called "Mounties".

You can see that it is a bit chilly!

On Sunday, Brendan and Amie took me to an excellent brunch at the Courtyard Restaurant which is in the Byward Market. Afterwards we walked through the market admiring the flowers.
I bought some fiddleheads and fresh fish for our supper.

Peach Orchard

I took this picture on my way to work this morning. We are so fortunate to live in the Niagara Peninsula where a sight like this is part of our daily scenery. This orchard is between Beamsville and Vineland.

My Muskoka Chair

This past January, I started building a muskoka chair, with considerable help from my friend Don. Here is a picture of me attempting to cut out one of the pieces

This weekend, Don came for a visit, and we assembled the chair to a point where it just needs to be painted. Here is Don putting on one of the arms. The chair is sitting up on a picnic table.
