Hiking in Grimsby

This evening, I went with the Bruce Trail Club for the weekly hike around Grimsby. Now that the weather is nice and the days are longer, we are able to hike on the Escarpment. Above Grimsby, the Niagara Escarpment is very steep, and the hike was quite strenuous. We walked for an hour and a half. At the top, on Ridge Road, we had a nice view of Beamer Falls

Here we are climbing up the steep part!

Nearly at the end!

Dinner on Easter Sunday

Here we are after dinner.
Clockwise: Colleen, Scott, Brendan, Amie and me with my red nose (too much Chianti)

Easter Sunday morning

The apricots are already in bloom. This was taken on a farm between Beamsville and Vineland. These flowers appear white but most of the orchard is pale pink.

With the Bruce Trail Club

It has been a beautiful Sunday afternoon. Since there is still not too much I can do in the garden, I decided to go on the Niagara Bruce Trail Club's walk. We met in the parking lot of the arena in Fonthill, and walked for about an hour and a half around the town, sometimes on streets and sometimes on some nice urban trails. Just my speed!

Here's half of the group waiting for the other half to cross the road.

Drumming Circle

Went to a "Drumming Circle" in Grimsby - at the old Pumphouse - this evening. Lots of fun, and a bit of a challenge for me. Personable young "facilitator" James Yarrow introduced us to our African Djembe drums that he provided, and lead us through the basic sounds and some rhythms.

Another sign of Spring

The male finches at my feeder are now wearing their yellow spring clothes. It took a few minutes of sitting very still in the garden to catch this one.
